Buttonholes/Boutonniere
Buttonholes are a popular tradition at weddings and other formal events. They are generally worn by a select few members of the wedding party, including the groom, groomsmen and father of the bride. The tradition of wearing buttonholes at weddings dates back to ancient Greece. Male wedding party members would pin a small arrangement of flowers and herbs to their chests to ward off evil spirits. The tradition traveled to England during the medieval period, when knights would wear their lady's colours to symbolize their commitment and love.
